Regarding the recent controversy surrounding President Zelenskyy’s attire during his meeting in the Oval Office with the DT team.
Today, I came across a photo of President Zelenskyy meeting King Charles III, wearing almost the same outfit as during that previous event. Some may criticize him for not wearing a suit, but what I see is something far more important: a man—tired, exhausted, yet brave and resolute. Dressed in all black, in simple sportswear, he is not making a fashion statement but carrying the weight of his country’s suffering.
This is not a sign of disrespect. It is a reflection of remembrance—for the civilians, the women, the children, the elderly, and the soldiers who have given everything for their families and their homeland. A president represents his nation, and in times of war, no color other than black or military green could truly capture the state of his people.
Would a suit make the war less real? Would a tie lessen the grief? In moments like these, appearance is not about protocol but about truth.
